I think most people read a lot more in the summer than the rest of the year. The suns out, you’re sitting in the garden with a nice book, or you’re on holiday on the beach…or on a plane..you catch my drift. I’m not going on holiday till September so I can only dream of sunny beach reading.
Zadie Smith’s latest book, I bought this because I heard it being discussed on The High Low podcast and had to buy it. Swing Time is a story about two young girls who dream of being dancers but life ensues and things don’t work out as well as they hoped.
How To Stop Time
I talk about Matt Haig a lot on this blog so I’m not going to drone on but hooray a new book! This is going to be a summer bestseller, Matt Haig has a huge following and for good reason. His books speak for themselves. I’ve only just started this but had to include it because I just know I’m going to love and devour it. I’m trying to pace myself so I don’t read it all at once.
Fish Change Direction In Cold Weather
This is one of my favourite books. It’s beautifully simple. I just adore it. Basically, it’s a bit of a fable. A young boy’s parents get divorced and he calls upon the sky to fix it. Stay with me! The sky brings the neighbourhood together in ways he wouldn’t have imagined. A beautiful story about the power of people and how we should love instead of hate.
The Couple Next Door
Now even the title is creepy. I love a scary and eerie book and the cover of this just stood out to me so I had to buy. I don’t want to give too much away but a baby goes missing and all hell breaks loose. Fun edge of your seat stuff.
